Registration & Login Problems

This message relates to the following BBs: Members' Forum, XJS Forum & XK8 Forum.

It is essential that before 'Registering' on a BB, members do approach their target Forum via the Members Only area, so their membership can be validated.

Subsequently, these Forums can be reached using their appropriate URLs, but if you are experiencing 'Login' problems, then you should access them via the Members Only Area.

We use cookies on this and other sites, to save you re-entering some data such as membership no. and e-mail address.

This works well, BUT increasingly I am receiving e-mails which 'bounce' because the e-mail address has been incorrectly entered.

So, please ensure that your e-mail address is correct when you log-in to the members area.

When you Register, please note that much of the information is case-sensitive,
eg Username, Password, Confirmation Code etc.

After you submit your Registration info. you should see a message on screen, to the effect that an activation e-mail has been sent to you.

This e-mail contains a clickable link, which will activate your account and allow you to login.

The e-mail may arrive immediately, but could take up to 2 hours to be delivered.

In addition, certain ISPs have considered this mail to be 'SPAM' and it is not delivered.

If, after 2 hours you have not received an e-mail, then click here, to e-mail me.

To help you, I need to know your UserName, Membership No. and which Forum you are having trouble with.

Login problems after successful Registration.

If you successfully Registered and Logged in before mid January, but now find that you cannot login. . . This may be because I was forced to make some changes following a hack attack on one of our Forums.

If you receive a 'You have specified an incorrect or inactive username, or an invalid password' message, then it has to be Username or Password which is in error.

If, however, you do NOT receive an error message, then the database has accepted your Username and Password and the problem is elsewhere.

If you are taken back to the index page and it shows the 'login' link rather than the 'logout' link as you might hope, then it is a session problem connected with a cookie.

If the above is true, then you need to delete the appropriate cookie(s).

If you are using MS IE then you can find cookies by clicking 'Tools, Internet Options, Settings, View Files'.

You should look for and select entries which relate to the domain in question.

The Domain of this site is either www.jec-xk8-forum.org.uk or jec-xk8-forum.org.uk etc

They take the form of: 'Cookie:yourname@www.jec-xk8-forum.org.uk.txt' or
'Cookie:yourname@jec-xk8-forum.org.uk.txt'. Select then right click and delete them.
